We are so excited to host the queen of Crewel this January for an Introduction to Crewel Embroidery! The well known author of The New Crewel, Katherine Shaughnessy will be here January 26th to teach a fun introduction to crewel that will be useful for both beginners and advanced students. Sign up early, seating is limited! Katherine will also be bringing her book along for a book signing following the class.



Katherine Shaughnessy designs the Wool & Hoop Crewel Embroidery Kits. Her mother taught her crewel embroidery at age six in Ohio. She continued sewing, from kits to clothing, and then onto interior design and even wedding dresses. It was in art school that she began using a needle and thread to construct large sculptures and to piece together her collage paintings. She earned a graduate degree in Fiber Arts from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. A few years ago, Katherine became nostalgic for the colorful crewelwork that she remembered as a child, and after a long search for cool kits, she launched Wool & Hoop.
